The Body's Systems are interconnected in such a way that targeted myofascial treatments not only affect the muscular system, but also the nervous and endocrine systems.
What is myoActivation?
Dry needling is a simple technique using a small needle on trigger points, fascia or scars to provide immediate pain relief.
myoActivation is a technique that uses a structured assessment to target specific muscles, fascia and scars to minimize myofascial-related pain. It focuses on abnormal postural changes and muscle imbalances. Pain in one area might come from a trigger point in another.
We use a simple technique called dry needling which involves the insertion of a small needle into a trigger point, fascia or scar. You can experience immediate relief with this method, however, it usually takes 2-4 myoActivation sessions to reduce pain and improve flexibility.

How is myoActivation Different?
myoActivation changes how we understand pain.
Typically, the area where you experience pain is not always where the pain originates from.
This is why we take an in-depth look at your full history, focusing on injuries, accidents, fractures, surgeries and even scars. Scars can lay down a lot of tissue to help protect the area from being reinjured, but this can create limitations to healing, especially if the scars occurred in your childhood. This restriction is what can contribute to chronic pain and why scars need to be addressed.
We also look for any restrictions while standing or with movement and confirm any additional areas of pain. Special tests are used to find trigger points in muscles or fascia that contribute to your chronic pain.
myoActivation looks at you as a whole structure, not just where your pain is located.

How Does myoActivation Decrease Pain?
Think of your body as a complex network of muscles and connective tissue called fascia. When functioning optimally, you will move with ease. However, if there is dysfunction in these tissues, you will experience restrictions often leading to pain.
When dysfunction occurs, your body will try and protect itself by tightening up your muscles which form trigger points in the fascia, commonly known as a knot. These trigger points send ongoing pain signals to the brain, even after an injury or when there is no obvious contributing factor.
Techniques such as myofascial release or myoActivation will help decrease these restrictions to address the root of your chronic pain, bringing more oxygen and nutrients to the tissues while increasing mobility, and allowing you to get back to your day-to-day activities with ease.
